David K. Goldstein, Ph.D.

President

David Goldstein is an expert in building data-driven business charts. As the President of Mekko Graphics, he is responsible for this PowerPoint add-in that is used by the top strategy consultants. David heads Mekko Graphics’ sales and marketing efforts and works closely with the product and customer support teams.

He works with Mekko Graphic’s customers to help them choose the best way to present their data. David has developed webinars, presentations and toolkits to illustrate the best practice for data-driven charting.

David is a former Harvard Business School professor who has spent his entire career helping individuals and organizations find the best way to analyze and present data. As a researcher, he studied how managers use ‘Big Data’ to create and tell stories. He taught Information Technology and Accounting courses at Harvard Business School, IT Management at MIT Sloan, and IT, Business Strategy, Marketing and Organizational Behavior at Boston University.

As the Co-founder and CEO of Knowledge Management Associates (KMA), he led the development of the Mekko Graphics product. In addition, he has worked with professional services clients on multi-million dollar consulting engagements. David successfully pivoted KMA from an application development firm to a SharePoint firm, before focusing on the Mekko Graphics product.

David has been an active member of the Boston chapter of SIM (Society for Information Management) and has served on its Board as a roundtable chair, program chair and marketing chair.

He holds a PhD degree from MIT Sloan, Master’s degrees in Engineering and Applied Mathematics (Computer Science) from Harvard, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics (with a Computer Science minor) from McGill University. He lives and works in the Boston area.

Jorge E. Rodriguez

Jorge Rodriguez is a co-founder of Mekko Graphics. He has more than 45 years of experience in software engineering with extensive experience designing and building large-scale database systems and desktop information delivery solutions. He is a strategic adviser to the Mekko Graphics team and played a key role in designing earlier versions of the product.

Elena Kontorovich

Elena Kontorovich

Director of Product Management and Customer Care

Elena Kontorovich has more than 15 years of software development and project management experience in the IT industry. Prior to joining Mekko Graphics (then known as Knowledge Management Associates), she spent five years as a Senior Software Engineer at MDL Information System (an Elsevier Company) managing offshore personnel and providing project management, configuration and quality assurance support to complex products designed for commercial, academic and government life sciences researchers. She also worked at Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) as a software developer, designing and implementing core geometrical utilities for CAD products. At Mekko Graphics, Elena works as a Product Manager for the Mekko Graphics product and oversees customer support and QA. Elena holds MS and Ph.D. degrees from State Technical University and Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia. She also received an MBA from Boston University.

Andrew Startsev

Andrew Startsev

Director of Software Development and Architecture

Andrew Startsev is our Sr. Software Developer and Architect. He is a veteran in software development, mastered during his 30 years of experience in various applications from embedded microprocessor systems to web and desktop solutions. Andrew uses C#.Net as a primary development platform since its first commercial appearance more than 10 years ago. Andrew is willing to challenge the status-quo to provide both innovative and practical solutions. With both interest and aptitude in usability and visual design, he enjoys creating a user interface (UI) that is both functional and simple to use. His motto is “A good solution has to be simple”. Andrew received his MS in Computer Science. Andrew enjoys mountain hiking in his free time.

Betsy Johnson

Betsy Johnson

Quality Assurance

Betsy Johnson has over 20 years of experience in software quality assurance, customer support, user documentation, and end-user training. She is involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC), evaluating and testing the Mekko Graphics software for usability and functionality, and ensuring the highest quality of the final product. In addition to performing software quality assurance testing for Mekko Graphics, Betsy also authors the Mekko Graphics documentation and designs and facilitates our training webinar videos. Betsy holds a BS in Psychology from Ursinus College in PA. Inspired by her family and the natural world, Betsy’s passion is writing poetry and short stories and she has several pieces published in various literary journals.

Alain Cardenas

Software Developer

Alain Cardenas has over seven years of software development and IT administration experience. Earlier in his career, Alain worked as an Assistant Professor and Network Administrator at University of Sancti Spiritus, Cuba. As a software developer at Mekko Graphics, he is responsible for designing and developing new features of our charting tools, and also serves as our primary IT consultant, improving the structure and efficiency of the Company’s IT systems. Alain holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Central University of Las Villas, Cuba. An avid tennis player, Alain enjoys keeping fit, and spends much of his free time on the court.

Norelle Maher

Norelle Maher

Sales and Administration

Norelle Maher started with Mekko Graphics in 2011 and wears many hats - office manager, payroll coordinator, bookkeeper and sales representative. Norelle graduated from Westfield State College with a BS in Accounting and has worked as a senior accountant for a property management firm and then for a company that owned and operated a portfolio of senior living facilities. Most recently before joining Mekko Graphics, Norelle helped her husband start his own successful residential construction business. Norelle communicates well with others, successfully manages multiple tasks and takes the initiative to learn new things, making her a valued asset to our team.
