How do display a bar whose value is zero?

Question –  In some charts, the value of my bar may be equal to zero. The Mekko Wizard will not draw that bar, assuming that its value does not "exist", and therefore does not need to be shown in the chart. If it is an important point to the overall message of the slide that the bar has a value of zero, can I show this value in my chart?

Answer – Yes, there is a Mekko feature which enables you to show that bar in the chart when the value is zero.

1.      Access the chart data entry window

2.      Select Chart, Show Zero Values in Chart  from the data entry menu.

3.      Click Finish - the bars that have a value of zero will appear

How do I link two series together?

Question – I would like to draw comparisons between segments in my bar chart. Can I do this?

Answer –  Yes. Mekko Wizard lets you automatically add dashed lines or comparison lines between segments in a bar chart. Comparison lines allow you to easily view the change in series values across the chart.

Adding comparison lines:

  1. Access the chart data entry window
  2. Select Series from the data entry menu.
  3. Click on Link Series with Comparison Lines.

Adding comparison lines does not require the chart to have an equal number of segments in each bar.  However, you must have the data properly entered by series.

Removing the comparison lines:
  1. Access the chart data entry window
  2. Select Series from the data entry menu.
  3. Click on Link Series with Comparison Lines to turn off the option.
You can also draw individual lines between bar segments using the Add/Remove Segment Links option. Mekko Wizard will automatically adjust the lines with subsequent changes to the chart data.
