On a high level, it should be understood that Mekko Graphics was designed specifically for presentations related to Strategy and Marketing. So, the features we have incorporated in the Mekko Graphics product are designed with this in mind. Specifically, the charts which make it distinctive from PowerPoint® are Marimekko and Bar-Mekko. Important features include the fit test technology, which is a highly sophisticated method for placing (fitting) labels on your chart, resulting in more internal consistency in label size, and fewer labels becoming unplaced. The result is better label placement than what PowerPoint® can provide. Fit Test functionality is controlled by two icons on the far right of the toolbar: the lock and the exclamation point.
Another important feature which makes Mekko Graphics charting superior to PowerPoint® charting is the incorporation of the Label Manager. The Label Manager can be described as the control panel of your chart, giving you maximum control over the placement of each label. With the Label Manager, you have much more control over the overall look of the chart, making it easy to highlight key points in their charts and send the intended message to users viewing the chart. You will also find Mekko Graphics provides a fast and efficient way to format labels and control label placement. Additionally, there are numerous charting features incorporated in Mekko Graphics specifically for each chart type that have been incorporated with the strategy consultant in mind, such as other Series, CAGRs, Comparison Lines, Data Rows/Columns, Regression Lines, etc.
For those clients who want to add a more consistent and branded 'look and feel' to their Mekko presentations, customization services are available. This service typically involves creating custom templates in PowerPoint® and Mekko, which result in easy-to-update and visually compelling presentations.
