Installation and Activation FAQ
How do I locate my activation code? What is the difference between activation, registration and customer codes?
The activation code, used with the current installation version, is found on the back of your CD case or in the purchaser's correspondence with us. It is in the format xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx with mixed characters.
The customer code is the code that the older installation version generated during installation. This code was used to your registration. A registration code was created and e-mailed to you, based on this customer code, which worked only on the computer for which it was created.
I get an install error when trying to install Mekko Graphics. What do you suggest?
You must have Administrator rights to
install the Mekko Graphics software. To determine if you have Administrator rights, go to Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management - Local Users and Groups, find your name, right click on it and select Properties. Click the 'member of' tab and see if you are a member of the Administrator group. If not, you may wish to contact your IT department to change your Administrative properties or to assist you with the install.
I can't find the activation screen. Do I have the correct install?
You have an older trial version of the software. Your registration or activation code will work only with the installation version for which it is created. Be sure to install from the originally downloaded file to make sure you have the correct version for your activation or registration code.
The current trial version will show a Welcome screen that has the text "I have a product activation code and want to activate."
If you do not see this screen, you will need to download the new trial version from our web site and install it on your new computer. Contact us at
support@mekkographics.com so that we can validate you as a licensed user and provide you with a new activation code.
Why do I receive the message "no activations remaining" when I try to activate the software?
Our licensing server tracks each activation that occurs using your activation code. You can have a number of active licenses equal to the number of licenses that you purchased. Each time you want to use a license on a new computer, you must be sure to deactivate or "transfer" the license from the original computer in order to free a license for use on the new computer. To transfer a license from the original computer:

Start PowerPoint® and insert a Mekko Chart. |

Select a chart family, hit next. |

Choose a chart type, hit next. |

You are now on the Data Entry Screen. |

Go to the Help Menu on this screen and choose "Transfer Your
Software License" option from the drop down list. |

A confirmation screen will display.

Your original computer will now have a deactivated license, and you will be able to activate Mekko Graphics on the new computer.
How do I transfer a license from one machine to another?
Follow these steps to transfer your license:

Start PowerPoint® and insert a Mekko Chart. |

Double click to edit the chart. |
 |
Select a chart family, hit next. |
 |
Choose a chart type, hit next. |
 |
You are now on the Data Entry Screen. |

Go to the Help Menu on this screen. |

If you see "Transfer Your Software License" as an option on
the drop-down list, you are using the current installation version. Choose
transfer your license. A confirmation screen will display and your activation
code will now be available for use on the new computer. |

If you see "Move License" as an option on the drop-down list,
you are using an older installation version. Please contact us at
support@mekkographics.com. |
Next, download and install the current installation version on the new computer. You will then use the activation code to activate the product on the new computer.
Start PowerPoint® and from the Mekko menu, insert a Mekko chart.
At the Welcome Screen, click "I have a product activation code and want to activate Mekko Graphics." Click Continue. Enter your product activation code on the activation screen. A confirmation screen will display and allow you to register the software to receive product upgrades and support.
I am not able to transfer my activation code. What should I do?
Make sure you are connected to the internet. If the problem continues, send an e-mail to customer support at
support@mekkographics.com to request assistance. Please include your activation code in your e-mail.
Why is Mekko Graphics no longer using a customer code?
We have improved the way we register licenses. The current installation allows you to activate and transfer your license via the internet. It is the same great charting software you are already familiar with.
Why should I choose to register the software?
We do not require you to register the software with us once it is activated, although we hope that you will choose to register. There are a number of reasons that you may want to register:

It allows us to quickly and easily validate you as a licensed
user and provide support in a more timely manner. |

If you have purchased a 5- or 10-pack version the
software, it makes it easier for us to help you track all licensed users. |

We can provide you with news and updates as they
become available. |
If I have a valid Mekko Graphics license and I uninstall and reinstall Mekko Graphics on the same machine, do I need to obtain a new registration code?
No, if you have a valid Mekko Graphics license, you may uninstall Mekko Graphics through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. If you then re-install Mekko Graphics, the registration code will remain valid. You do not need to re-register your software.
