Disney Revenue Change in a Waterfall Chart with Data Rows and Bar Comparison Line
How I Made this Waterfall Chart with Data Rows and Bar Comparison Line
Here is the Disney revenue data I used to create the waterfall chart:
Here's how I made the chart:
- copy the data from Disney financial statement into Excel and columns for change between 2019 and 2020, and % change
- use Excel conditional formatting to color positive values green and negative red
- create a waterfall chart in PowerPoint based on Excel data range
- use Switch Bars and Series to treat rows as bars
- in Format Bars and Series, do not show unused rows and columns and show data rows
- sort bars from most negative to most positive and exclude eliminations from sort
- press Color button to apply cell colors from spreadsheet
- add axis break and bar comparison line
- apply number formats to bar totals, bar comparison line and data rows
- hide x and y axes and add segment links
- adjust internal chart margins and click off autowrap to display data row headers on single line
