Generational Wealth Gap
Older Americans hold a disproportionate share of US household wealth, as shown in this 100% stacked bar chart of the generational wealth gap. The 41% of American adults over 55 account for 70% of the household wealth. In contrast, the 31% of American adults between 24 and 39 account for only 4% of the $112 trillion in US household wealth. Generational Wealth Gap data are from the US Federal Reserve and are as of 2019.

- type the Federal Reserve data into the Mekko Graphics Data Editor
- use Bars and Series to set wealth/person as a CAGR column and format it with a $ as a prefix
- show calculated percentage labels the segments in all bars
- link segments
- add legend and align with CAGR column
- hide y axis and x axis line
- adjust internal chart margins and bar gaps
