Global Games Market Growth
The games market is projected to grow at 7.8% in 2017. Growth will be highest in Latin America and Asia and lowest in North America. Smartphone-based games will grow 22%, far outpacing the 11% growth for tablet games. Console games will grow at less than 4% and PC games will be 2.5% lower in revenue in 2017 than in 2016. To create these charts in PowerPoint, I started with the standard Mekko Graphics "Two Charts Top/Bottom" layout. To make the charts the same size and have them align with each other, I deleted one of the two charts in the layout and created my first chart. I laid it out the way I wanted with margins, data row and chart colors that worked well in the two chart layout. I then copied the chart, aligned the second under the first, and updated the data in the second chart.
I used one new feature in the chart. I added an auto-total to the data row in each chart. You can add this feature by clicking on "Bars and Series," navigating to the Series tab and Visibility sub-tab, going to the Market Size series and clicking the auto total checkbox. This provides the total market size to the right of the data row.
