How I Made this Marimekko Chart
Here is the data on footballers value in the Excel PivotTable I used to create the Marimekko chart:
Here's how I made the Marimekko chart:
- copy and paste footballers value data from CIES post to Word
- create Word table from copied text and copy and paste table into Excel
- make PivotTable from Excel table as shown above
- create Marimekko chart in PowerPoint from data range in PivotTable
- use switch bars and series button to treat rows as bars and columns as series
- sort data with widest barson left and biggest series on bottom of each column
- add column in spreadsheet with data row information on highest value player in each league
- add legend and show on bottom of chart
- adjust internal chart margins to fill chart area and reduce whitespace
- show values only in each segment
- adjust series colors
- custom order legend items to correspond with series order
- add y axis tittle, hide axis lines and tick marks
- set chart border to white
